Our surveys

While our lab tests give us independent assessments of the products we test, the views and experiences of real consumers are just as important in helping to shape our work.

Each month, we survey thousands of members from Which?, Which? Connect (our online member panel) and the general public on topics ranging from how people feel about local supermarkets, broadband providers and energy suppliers to how reliable the products they buy are.

We use this information to ensure our recommendations, investigations and calls for change reflect the real issues consumers face and the experiences that matter most to them.

Highlights from our recent surveys include:

• Phone contracts – Mobile customers who switched network and swapped a phone contract for a Sim-only deal saved, on average, £258 a year
• Flights – 59% of members of the public prefer for the seating next to their travel companions to be included in the price of the airline ticket
• Using AI – 39% of Which? members are satisfied with their experience using AI chatbots
• Car reliability – We received feedback on 72,470 cars in our last car survey
• Home appliances – We assessed 27,859 household domestic appliances for reliability
