In order to find useful examples of free software that were both easy to use and a good alternative to commercial paid-for software, we downloaded applications.
Most applications were tested as part of our in-depth labs test for different types of application – for example, free security software formed part of our tests of security suites, the details of which we will be publishing online soon.
We have noted where we have not fully tested an application. Alternatives as listed as a reasonable alternative solution with a price detailing the saving you’d make using the free alternative compared to the commercial version.
