If you're not sure what news feeds to start adding, the welcome screens on Bloglines and Newsgator helpfully flag up the most popular ones, while My Yahoo! gives you a ready-made page full of content upon sign-up, which you can later 'personalise' to suit.
All the web-based services on test also let you search for feeds by name or keyword (such as BBC technology news). When the relevant search results are returned, click 'subscribe' or 'add'.
Of the ten feeds we searched for, Google Reader and Newsgator produced the most accurate, relevant results. It's trickier to search feeds on My Yahoo! because the main search box on the page will search the entire web; you need to click Add content link to search for a feed.
If you already know of a feed, you'll usually need to copy the feed address from the website (right-click on the RSS button or link and select 'copy shortcut') and paste (Ctrl+V) it into your news reader.
Adding a feed manually was simple using Newsgator – just paste the address into the box provided and click Add Feed. It's also easy to do with Opera, but only after you've got that 'Feeds' button loaded.
