Save money on printingHow to use less paper

1 Save paper

Save paper

If a few lines of text spill over onto an extra page, save paper by making it fit to fewer pages. Click File > Print Preview. Click the Shrink to Fit icon > Close.

2 Specify pages

Specify pages

Don't print out an entire document when you only need a couple of pages. Click File > Print. Under Page Range, click Pages. Either type in the page numbers separated by commas (1,2,3,4, for example), or type in a range of pages (such as 1-4). Click OK.

3 Double-sided printing

Double sided printing

Halve the amount of paper you use by printing on both sides of every sheet. Click File > Print > Options. Click to tick Front of sheet and Back of sheet > OK > OK. (If you find this doesn't work, see below).

If you want to check what a document looks like before you print it, you can view it onscreen. Click File > Print Preview. Click the Multiple Pages icon. In the dropdown box, choose how to preview pages - 2x2 to see two pages side-by-side, say. Click Close to finish.

Having problems with double sided printing?

Check your printer’s manual to see whether it allows double sided, or duplex printing. If it doesn’t, you can do it manually: File > Print. Select Odd pages from the Print drop-down menu > OK. When these have printed, turn the pages over and put them back into your printer. Select Even pages > OK
