Help
Travel system
Can the pushchair can be used as a travel system by using it with a child car seat?
Use with carrycot
Can attach a carrycot to the pushchair? Either on the frame instead of the seat, or on top of the seat?
Pushchair weight (kg)
Pushchair only, without accessories.
Folded dimensions (cm)
Size in cm of the pushchair when it is folded. If the pushchair has a separate seat and chassis we give the folded volume of the chassis only.
Suitable for use from birth?
A 'Yes - seat is excellent' pushchair has a seat with a backrest that reclines to more than 150 degrees, which is best for newborn babies.
The backrest on a 'No' pushchair seat either does not recline to more than 120 degrees, or reclines so the baby lies less than 60 degrees from horizontal; the British pushchair safety standard means that the 'less than 60 degrees' minimum recline can be classified as suitable from birth in the UK, but Which? thinks that this is out of date and believes that a greater recline is better for newborn babies. We follow the more up-to-date European standard and do not recommend these models for babies under 6 months.
Pushchairs labelled 'No' do not recline far enough to be suitable from birth, but can be used from 6 months.
Pushchairs labelled 'Yes- with carrycot only' are suitable from birth only if you use the compatible carrycot until the baby is six months. The seat on these pushchairs is not suitable for use under six months. The carrycot may or may not be included in the price.
Maximum child weight (kg)
Manufacturer's recommendation. If the cell is blank the manufacturer does not specify this information in its instruction booklet. Weights for double pushchairs are per seat.
Parent-facing option
Whether the seat unit can face backwards towards the pusher or forwards
Number of back rest positions
How many positions the backrest can be set in
Number of leg rest positions
How many positions the leg rest can be set in
Folding Method
Whether the pushchair: folds into itself to make a long, thin package (umbrella fold); folds into a square package like a concertina or folds over itself in a scissor action. The way it folds will determine the folded size, shape and volume.
1-handed folding
Whether we were able to fold the pushchair using one hand in our tests. Although one hand fold may be possible, a 'yes' does not also mean that it was easy.
Self-catching clip
A self-catching clip automatically holds the pushchair shut when it is folded, making it easier to lift.
Stands upright when folded
A pushchair that stands unaided when it is folded is easier to store or use on public transport.
Car seat compatible
These pushchairs can be used with a car seat. Inclusion of the car seat here does not mean that it too is a Best Buy. However it will not have been awarded a Don't Buy status in our test.

Around obstacles
How easy the pushchair is to handle around tight corners. Most pushchairs perform well in this test.
On kerbs
How easy the pushchair is to handle pushing it up or down kerbs. Pushchairs often struggle in this test and you'll find it challenging with one that gets three or less stars for this attribute.
On uneven surfaces
How easy the pushchair is to handle on uneven surfaces such as gravel paths. Lightweight pushchairs often struggle in this test. Expect a rattling frame from one that gets three or less stars for this attribute.
On stairs
How easy the pushchair is to wheel up and down a small flight of stairs. Pushchairs often struggle in this test. Expect a bumpy ride, difficulty balancing the weight or brakes that catch on the stairs from models that get three or less stars for this attribute.
On rough ground
How easy it is to handle the pushchair on very rough and bumpy grass. This rating only contributes to the test score of pushchairs that are all-terrain or off-road models.
Folding
How easy the pushchair is fold for storage or travel. Pushchairs often struggle in this test. Expect a complicated method or some difficulty adjusting models that get three or less stars for this attribute.
Unfolding
How easy the pushchair is unfold for storage or travel. Pushchairs often struggle in this test. Expect a complicated method or some difficulty adjusting models that get three or less stars for this attribute.
Lifting and moving when folded
How easy the pushchair is to lift and move when it is folded for storage or travel. Pushchairs often struggle in this test. Expect a pushchair to be heavy, bulky or break down into two or more pieces if it scores three stars or less for this attribute.
Storing in a medium family car
The fewer stars the bulkier and more difficult it is to store a pushchair in the boot of a small/medium family car i.e. VW Polo (boot size 383 litres), VW Golf (boot size 393 litres), Honda Civic. Fewer than three stars means you have to remove the seat, wheels or other parts of the pushchair to do so. Read our individuals reviews for more details.
On the bus
How easy it is to get the pushchair up the step on a bus, past the driver's area, along the gangway, into and out of the parking space and off the bus again. Tested using a simulated bus set based on the typical layout of a bus that you enter from the front - not a bendy London bus.
On an escalator
How easy it is to balance the pushchair on an escalator step in the upwards and downwards directions.
Our experts perform an assessment of balancing the pushchair on a simulation of a typical London Underground escalator. Most escalator and pushchair manufacturer's caution against doing this, but our observations show that people using the Tube, or changing levels in shopping centres, often balance the unfolded pushchair on the steps of escalators. We believe it is helpful therefore to identify those that are particularly difficult to balance.
The provision of a rating for use on an escalator is not a recommendation by Which? that you can or should use the pushchair on an escalator, but an indication of how, if you ignore safety advice you would expect to be able to balance an unfolded pushchair. We'd always recommend that you use a lift where available, or remove your child and fold the pushchair before using on an escalator.
Attaching seat unit and accessories
How easy it is to change the direction of the removable seat units and attach and detach accessories such as car seats and carrycots. Expect a stiff or difficult mechanism from models that get three or less stars for this attribute.
Ease of reclining the backrest
How easy the backrest of the seat is to recline and adjust. Expect a stiff or difficult mechanism for reclining the backrest from models that get three or less stars for this attribute.
Using the brakes
How easy it is to engage the brakes and how effective our testers found them in the user trials.
Shopping basket access and size
Rates the ease of access to and size of the storage.
Handle height, angle and adjustment
Rates the comfort of the height and angle of the handles and how easy they are to adjust.
Comfort to push
Rates how easy it is to push the pushchair. The fewer stars mean that the pushchair is in some way heavy, resistant, cumbersome or uncomfortable to push.
Cleaning
How easy it is to clean the seat fabric and whether the fabric is stained by food spills.
