The Mountain Buggy Urban off-roader buggy is an all-terrain pushchair which is suitable for newborns; it can be fitted with a carrycot or Maxi-Cosi car seats instead of the seat unit, although you'll have to pay extra for these. We put this off-roader buggy to the test to find out if it's easy to use and safe.

We agree! I love showing off how well it manages in parks and off-roading. I was so excited when there was a few inches of snow and the buggy happily made its way through it, was delighted with our choice. I have also happily used it when going to the shops. There are a few shops that I am concious of the large wheels bumping into things, but most places are fine (especially as more places are becoming accessible to wheelchair users). I have frequently used buses and found them ok too, however I tend to travel at off-peak times when it is not so busy. It is easy to collapse, but is still a bit bulky when it is. I have a supermini car (Honda Jazz) and it takes up almost all our boot space.I agree that if you pack it well, the basket underneath can take quite a few things. I also use buggy hooks to hang more shopping from the handlebar, the buggy is well balanced and can take quite a bit without too much concern. Finally the rain cover is excellent - no rain is getting in there! It covers the whole thing, so your buggy never gets soggy! I have also used it as a wind protector, although with the hood fully extended, that provides quite a lot of cover too. So... I reckon its worth the money. I have heard other people saying they have bought numerous buggies to see them through their children's early years. Although Mountain Buggy is more expensive than most, this one buggy will easily see your child comfy from birth til they are at least four. Pros: Cons:

In that time it will have been pushed over 1000 miles across all sorts of rough terrain in all weathers. As soon as you use this pushchair after trying others you notice the quality difference immediately. It is so easy to push across any surface, so smooth, and the child is more comfortable and relaxed and safe. As other reviewers have noted it is not compact either erected or stored. It is definitely not ideal for going shopping with as it takes up a lot of floor space. If you like the outdoor life this is definitely the pushchair for you. Loads of storage space, parent's water bottle holder on the handle and even a strap which I attach to the dog's lead. The rain cover, fitted in a few seconds, is first class and keeps out the heaviest downpour, while allowing you to look straight down on your child through a see through pane. Can't recommend it highly enough. Pros: Cons:

Really easy to push, big basket and comfortable for baby. I haven't used with a carrycot so can't comment on that but would highly recommend!! Pros: Cons:

I used it with the removable carrycot when my son was newborn and I had so many positive comments from people as its a conventional pram but with a modern chassis. The carrycot being removable meant that we could unclip it if the baby was asleep after a walk and carry him into the bedroom in it without disturbing him. Now he rides in the forward facing buggy which just handles like a dream and turns on a sixpence. We walk the dog every day and it handles rough ground and the beach with ease. Downsides are its long and wide (esp the little clips that stick out from the wheels make it even wider) so going around shops you do feel a bit in the way, but it is very nimble and your little one will still be comfortable in it at 5years old. Its big when collapsed (i have a scenic and the length of it is the width of the boot). The height adjustable handle is great. The basket isn't huge but you can fit a weekly shop under there if you pack it well! There is a handy zip up pocket just the right size for nappies and wipes. The handling is just so great its stable, nimble and very smooth. No effort required to push unlike buggies with non pneumatic tyres. Highly recommend it. Pros: Cons:

Mountain Buggies are excellent and i cannot understand why this buggy has not been tested on rough ground as this is where it excels! Although it is called an 'urban' its not really suitable for everyday city life and certainly not public transport. In the a rural environment however, it is absolutely fantastic and no other buggy comes close. Pros: Cons:
