The Silver Cross 3D Pram System is a pushchair with a seat that converts into a pram body. It can be used as a travel system with the Silver Cross Ventura plus car seat (available separately). We tested this pramette pushchair to see how well it works in everyday life.

It has some lovely accessories with the cosy toes for each pushchair mode, this is what sold it to me! It then all started to go wrong when she out grew the carry cot at 3 months and because she was so tiny she didnt settle in the forward facing position in the pushchair mode, she wanted to see me! The downside to the system was you can not have the baby in a rear facing mode so i used the car seat on the system, this made it very heavy and difficult to get up and down curbs and stairs were a big no no! The frame then started to become lose and wobbly and became harder to push, the brakes were not good in wet weather and stopped working and the final straw was it would not collapse! This was when i decided to take it back and swap it for a Quinny! I feel this travel system is trying to do too many things, and although it is a excellent price i feel it has compromised on quality in some areas and would not recommend! Pros: Cons:

It was difficult to put the pushchair down until you get the hang of it, but now it is second nature. It fits in the boot of both of our cars with no problems, smaller is a Peugeot 206. I agree the shopping basket is awkward but really hasn't put me off recommending this product. The system goes together very easily and the ventura car seat is a great addition. Pros: Cons:

Can only steer with both hands.I already had a new hood as the first one broke in 2 places. Ive had 4 pram bags as the zips went on all of them within 6 weeks!!Its very difficult to collapse the pram -- do not but if you will be using public transport.Pram is huge to fit into the boot - i have a ford focus and it just fits - doesnt fit in my parents mazda 3! As previously mentioned the parasol is super heavy and doesnt get into any position that keeps the sun of your child. rain cover super big and steams up very easily. Basket under pram usless - very difficult to access, and cant collapse pram with even a baby jumper in.Its overall a veery expensive piece of rubbish! I bought silvercross thinking it would be a very good brand - how wrong i was! Pros: Cons:

wrote: | KarenP1 wrote: Definitely do not buy this pram - mine lasted 5 months! The pram itself is poorly designed...the storage under the frame constantly catches under the front foot rest, resulting in the axis buckling as if you don't realise this has caught you don't understand why the pram won't click into place. The rain cover doesn't have any front access when it is in pushchair mode, meaning that it steams up and if you go into shops you have to take the whole thing off rather than just "un-zip". The parasol is top heavy and does not stay in place long enough to do the job that it is intended to do. The brake - a real safety issue, pings off and I have on a couple of occasions had to grab the pram on trains and in carparks to stop it hurtling away. I am sure that it is only a matter of time before there is a real accident as a result of this. In my opinion this pram should be recalled and I have since exchanged it for another brand. Silver Cross as a company were rude, poorly trained customer services advisors, who when I complained about the parasol - told me it was out of warranty (the first time I used it admittedly was 6 weeks after I bought it) and told me to sell it on E-bay! This attitude did not come as a surprise when I went to exchange the pram as a result of my concerns around safety and longevity and this after only 5 months! It was such a disaapointment as I initially bought it due to the Silver Cross brand and name. Pros: Cons:

Frame fault, I had to push the frame together to click into place too.Once baby gets bigger, very hard to push. Baby outgrew carry cot at 3 months & I also missed eye contact, having to put him in pushchair mode. Bad quality build. Pros: Cons:

wrote: | rebecca wrote: I wouldn't buy this pram We bought this pram for our first child. It quickly became very difficult to collapse and it took 2 people to put it back up. The shop where we bought it said they have about 30% returned to them with the same issue. When we returned it to Silvercross for repair they were extremely unhelpful. It took 6 weeks to get it back and then was less than perfect - a very bad buy. Pros: Cons:

Just like other users I found the folding/unfolding function a bit difficult to start with and even when we got used to it, it was still very heavy. I had C-section when giving birth to my son and I had to ask for help for months with the folding and lifting. Over time the "click-in" function of the pram when folded/unfolded stopped working as well. We have to manually press the frame till it finally clicks in. Brakes are unreliable as well - they often undo themselves as my little one rocks in the buggy. The wheels are squeaking even though we often apply WD40. During dog walks the buggy is hard to push on any surface other than smooth pavement – it also rattles a lot, which funnily enough my son quite enjoys.Other annoying aspects of the buggy are the unusable shopping basket (as the access is way too narrow) and the fact that you always need both hands to manoeuvre the pram. We have another little one on the way and I’m seriously considering buying a different brand even though we could do with saving money and keeping the old pram. Pros: Cons:

Just about fits lengthways in a large boot.Shopping basket provides the most frustration: fairly capacious but with very narrow access.Brakes are not consistently secure and have a tendancy to un-pop.On the Ventura carseat, there is a separate hood, which is great in the car to provide shade, but a bit of a pain having to take it off to get the seat belt straps on. The cosy toes, used when in pram mode is short, and my 3 month old could already push it off with her toes. The top edge of the cosy toes is also very low, and I ended up undoing the stitching to enable it to fold up and keep her out of the wind/rain. The Ventura car seat itself is fine. The rain cover doesn't fit properly when the car seat is used in pram mode.OK-ish on slightly rough ground (gravel paths etc), though it does look like it might rattle my daughter's teeth out if she had any!. Wouldn't attempt to take it 'off-road'.Good bits: easy to push and it turns on a sixpence. Narrow enough to get round most shops. In general, it feels a little insubstantial, inspite of its weight, and the wheels have begun to squeak. I'm beginning to wonder if it will last another couple of years after just 5 months use. Pros: Cons:

I do have some niggles with it, but overall I think it's good value for money and well made. PROS: Unlike many prams we looked at it fits nicely into the boot of my hatchback car, leaving room for other things as well. It handles nicely, the covers come off and are easy to wash. The carry cot is lovely and cosy for newborns. When set up as a buggy, it has removable pads round the head so it can be used for both my toddler and my 6 month old. The cosy toes warmer that came with mine give added comfort in the winter. The back rest goes right down flat so I have used it as a buggy with my second child right from when she was a newborn to enable me to swap children around easily. It's easy to maneouvre around town and excels up and down pavements. If you are a public transport user, it's easy to get on and off buses and trains. The car seat is easy to add to it when you're in and out of the car. It still looks good after nearly 3 years of use.CONS: It's really hard to push one handed (but I think you sacrifice this for having a pushchair that folds down small). It is heavy when folded, but not unmanageable. The folding mechanism is complicated and we bent some of it by forcing it when first bought it. You have to follow the instructions carefully until you get the hang of it and if it doesn't fold easily you've done it wrong - start again! But, once you've got the hang of it it's quick and easy. If you have the carry cot part up, it's not a quick task to change it back into a pushchair. Maybe its a lot to ask, but I would have liked to have been able to swap between the two easily. As it was, my second born didn't get a go in the carry cot! It doesn't do well on rough ground. Pros: Cons:

wrote: | johnstonefamily wrote: Helen Do not buy this pushchair. I bought this pushchair for my first child, as I wanted a 3 in 1. When new it was very diffucult to unfold, as time went on, it was then difficult to get it to lock in the folded position! It is very heavy and impossible to push one handed, an attribute I didn't appreciate until baby arrived (when the only way to keep baby asleep is to keep moving and you want to have a chat to friends on your mobile). The shopping basket is a waste of time, as although large, the access space is letterbox shaped! Baby soon outgrew the carrycot and at less than 3 months had to go in the push chair, at which point I really missed having eye contact with her. The chassy overtime became wobbly and the wheels squeaked. The break in also unreliable, one time it unpopped and the pram rolled into (thankfully an empty) road. Pros: Cons:

This is a known problem with the Tokyo Denim fabric but Silver Cross are still selling this fabric. I've been back to my retailer and have been offered a full set of fabrics in an alternative colour but I have to fit them myself and I can't see how it's possible to do this without taking the pram apart. The instruction manual only gives advice for sponge cleaning the fabric not removal. The pram is currently with Silver Cross for 'assessment' as it has developed a fault creating too much movement in the frame resulting in near collapse while in use. Silver Cross will assess whether this is a chargeable fault! I have searched mum and baby websites and found that this movement is a common fault with the 3D system, some people have had free of charge repairs, others have been charged.I've asked my retailer if while my pram is with Silver Cross could they replace the fabric but apparently they won't. The retailer then said "Silver Cross are not the easiest company to deal with anymore". On further research it would appear that Silver Cross have been bought by another company and they don't have the customer service attitude that they once had.I really loved the 3D when I first got it, but now I regret the purchase as it just doesn't seem safe enough to use, especially when the locking mechanism has slipped out of the frame when I've lifted the pram up to get over a kerb. I would also agree that the shopping basket is a complete nightmare to get to, even when the seat is not fully reclined. The only way to access it is to do so from the side while looking or you'll catch your hands on the frame. Pros: Cons:
