Christmas for kids Hot toys for Christmas 2012: video guide

We visited the Dream Toys 2012 event to take a look at the latest kids' toys that are tipped to be popular this Christmas. We got out hands on some of the hot interactive and tech toys that are bound to be on your child’s Christmas list - watch them in action in our video guide.

From giant battling bugs to some rather, well, silly toys, you can see them all in our video guide.

If your child is a little too young for these toys, make sure you read our guide to play equipment for babies and toddlers and check out the best shops for buying baby equipment.

Furby - £59.99

Making a comeback this year is Furby, now a fuzzy creature you can pet, talk to and feed using your finger or via the smartphone/tablet apps that go with it. Most interestingly, you can also influence its personality – if you’re kind to it, it will be your best friend. But be cruel, and it will turn into a little monster.

Master Moves Mickey - £89

We were impressed with this break-dancing Mickey - he plays fifteen songs and has mastered eight dance moves, including spinning and standing on his head. It's rather pricey though, at nearly £90.

Tech Pet - £59.99

You can control the rather cute Tech Pet using your iPhone or iPod touch. You can feed it, pet it and command it using the screen, your voice or hand motions. You can also make it dance - either by itself or with another Tech Pet.

Attacknid - £69.99

We can't deny these remote-controlled duelling spider robots are very cool. But if you want to do battle, you will have to fork out a whopping £139.98 for two. However, we think this might be a great gift for big as well as little kids.

Peppa Pig Jumping in Muddy Puddles - £19.99

The popular Peppa Pig is getting a little messy this year, jumping into imaginary puddles, counting, singing and speaking to you as she goes.

Fufris Monkey - £16.99

This monkey, of which there is also a chicken, pig and rabbit version, will make your child laugh with its infectious giggling. And it delightfully breaks wind at the end of its laughing fit.

HexBugs - from £6.99

These robotic bugs come in all shapes and sizes including worms, crabs and spiders. There is also now an entire play park for them to zip around, which you can continue to build on. Creepy, but cool.

Cherry Cat - £59.99

Cherry the cat is the latest in a line of interactive toy pets. Like most real cats, she purrs when you stroke and brush her, is pleased when you feed her and scared when you make her jump.
