Unfair bank charges – let’s get the law changed!

The Supreme Court decided that the Office of Fair Trading isn’t allowed to assess whether unauthorised overdraft bank charges are fair or not. This is because they think the current law means the OFT cannot look at prices for the service. Banks are now likely to dismiss peoples’ redress claims.

Which? wants the Government to change the law so that overdraft charges can be assessed. This will help ensure a future where charges are clear, transparent and proportionate.

There is a Bill going through Parliament which could include this change, and Which? is meeting politicians to ask them to support this. However we need your help to make sure the Government realises how many people think the current situation is unfair and want the law to be changed.

We have prepared a template letter to go to the Government. All you need to do is fill in the form and make your voice heard.
