With car MP3 technology, you can listen to the music you’ve stored on your iPod or other MP3 player as you drive along.

A decent system will let you access thousands of your favourite tracks from the driving seat, so you can forget about rummaging through your CDs every time you fancy listening to something new.

Some new cars (such as the Hyundai i30 or Cheverolet's Epica, for example) have special docks that let you plug your MP3 player straight into the car stereo, but the majority don’t.

But even if you drive an old car, there are plenty of options open to you – depending on your budget, audio system and MP3 player.

Over the following pages we’ll take you through some of the different car MP3 options available – including transmitters, cassettes and integrated MP3 player adapters – giving you an idea of each solution's costs and capabilities along the way.
