What to look for when buying a roof box

Access

Look for roof boxes with doors that open wide and can be opened easily from either side of the car.

Fittings

Check that the brackets that attach the roof box to your car are solid, without being overly complicated.

Space

Manufacturer’s figures for roof-box volumes can be misleading, so check that the inside of the roof box isn’t an awkward shape for the items you want to carry.

Security

Make sure the roof box is equipped with sturdy locks. Our Best Buy roof boxes performed best in our security tests.

Interior straps

Make sure the straps used inside the roof box to secure your luggage are robust and easy to adjust.
