The Civic is Honda's single most important model. It's built in the UK at Honda's Swindon factory and in its latest guise has unique styling and a brave cabin design. The Civic is a love-or-hate kind of car in the medium class which is dominated by the much more conservative Ford Focus.

Since the 1970s the Honda Civic has always offered reliable transport for families - until now, that is. The latest generation, launched in 2006, has suddenly flipped and become disappointingly unreliable. The previous generation remains a Best Buy as a used car, though, with a much better reliability record.
