The CR-V is Honda's answer to the Toyota RAV4. We've had three generations of CR-V soft-roader to date, the latest one boasting great levels of safety and generous equipment. While it can't match the off-road performance of the Land Rover Freelander, the Honda CR-V is practical, safe and reliable family transport.

The latest Honda CR-V has a lot to live up to, as its predecessor has a fine reputation for reliability. While the current CR-V may not be quite as reliable as the old one, it's spacious, well laid out, well appointed and definitely worth a look. The current Honda CR-V, on sale since 2007, doesn't quite match the class-leading reliability and satisfaction standards of the previous CR-V. Brakes and electrics are the major concerns in our survey. The pre-2007 CR-V is a deserved Best Buy in the 4x4 category.
