The hybrid-powered Honda Insight is a direct rival for the Toyota Prius but sold at more competitive prices. It's a car designed to be as green as possible, and its petrol-electric power system offers excellent fuel economy and low carbon emissions. But does the Insight really make more sense than a conventional large family car?

New Honda Insight reviews

From the outside the Honda Insight looks like a fairly ordinary large family hatchback. But under the skin, the Insight uses hybrid petrol-electric power to deliver eco motoring (but unlike the Toyota Prius, you can't drive the Insight on electric power alone). It's frugal and well made although it certainly does have a few faults.

Used Honda Insight reviews

The current Insight was launched in 2009 and so far its reliability record has been excellent. It's cheaper to buy as a used car than the equivalent Toyota Prius, although arguably it's not as accomplished to drive.
