  The IS is Lexus's answer to premium saloons such as the Mercedes C-class, BMW 3 Series and Audi A4. Early models were rather sober in design but the latest IS, introduced in 2013, is much more adventurous.

  The luxurious Lexus RX started life as a petrol-only 4x4, but the first petrol-electric hybrid version, the RX 400h, was launched in 2005. The current RX 450h is hybrid-only, and was introduced in 2009. Curiously, there has never been a diesel RX.
