The Mazda5, a compact MPV which seats up to seven people, was updated in late 2010. It's a good family all-rounder, though the rearmost seats are really only suitable for children; the diesel engine has proved more reliable so far than the petrols, though suspension faults have also been too common. The latest model is good-looking, though there's limited choice; find out more in the full Which? reviews.

New Mazda 5 reviews

Updated for 2011, the latest Mazda5 keeps to the formula of its predecessor; it's sharply-styled, and remains one of the sportier compact MPVs to drive. It's practical and versatile, too, with its sliding central row of seats, and there's a new direct-injection 2.0-litre petrol model with fuel-saving stop-start technology. Used Mazda 5 reviews

The Mazda5 is very good value for money secondhand - even three-year old examples are cheap, at a fraction of their original new price. We'd suggest opting for a diesel, however, as these have proved more reliable than petrol versions. Find out more in the full Which? review.
