Renault car reviews

Renault is a long-standing French institution - and an automotive giant now that it has joined together with Nissan. The French and Japanese marques very much keep their own separate idenities, however, with Renault producing adventurously styled cars in mainstream market segments such as hatchbacks, MPVs and most recently SUVs.

However, Renault urgently needs to sharpen up its act in terms of reliability. Its showing in the latest Which? survey of owners was among the very worst.

Renault Clio reviews

The Renault Clio has proved one of the UK's favourite hatchbacks ever since it first launched in 1990. Recent versions have proven popular for a good balance of style, value and safety. Renaultsport hot hatch versions have long been hailed as some of the most rewarding driver's cars available.

Renault Espace reviews

The Renault Espace is considered by many people to be the first and most iconic people carrier. It's big and spacious, but has been bettered by other MPVs from Citroen, Ford and Peugeot for flexibility and quality in recent years. The version built since 2003 had the unwelcome honour of being the least reliable car in our 2010 Which? Car survey.

Renault Fluence reviews

The Renault Fluence is an exciting full-electric car with a claimed range of 100 miles. There are no compromises compared to a normal saloon though - the four-door body holds five adults in safety and comfort. It's one of several fully electric Renault models to hit UK roads in 2011.

Renault Grand Scénic reviews

Renault's Grand Scenic seven-seater has plenty of space for a family, impressive practicality and a decent drive quality. It falls short of rivals like the Citroen C4 Picasso in some areas like ride comfort, but overall it's a good package.

Renault Kangoo reviews

The Renault Kangoo may be an MPV, but it struggles to hide its roots as a van. It's unpretentious, basic and hugely practical, but also loud, unrefined and not very comfortable. Rivals include the Citroen Berlingo and the Peugeot Bipper Teepee.

Renault Koleos reviews

Renault's Koleos was late to the 4x4 party, being launched in 2008 - just when off-roaders were plummeting in popularity. With rivals like the Volkswagen Tiguan, Ford Kuga and the Nissan Qashqai, it struggled to make an impact, not least because of its dull styling, and was withdrawn from sale in the UK in August 2010.

Renault Laguna reviews

The Renault Laguna is a good-looking large family-sized car, available as a roomy hatchback or a stylish estate, the latter known as the Sport Tourer. There's also a coupe (reviewed separately). The Laguna's not expensive to buy - new or secondhand - but it loses its value frighteningly quickly, not least due to its worryingly poor record for reliability. Worth a punt at the right price, however? Read on for the full Which? verdict.

Renault Modus reviews

The Modus is Renault's mini-MPV, closely related to the Nissan Note (both models are based on the Nissan Micra/Renault Clio). It's affordable to buy, and economical to run - but bootspace is very limited. You'll need to check out the Grand Modus for more load-carrying capacity. Will the Modus suit a small family, however? Read on for the full Which? verdict.

Renault Mégane reviews

The Renault Megane comes in many forms, from economical and entry-level to the screaming hot-hatch Renaultsport versions, and as a three-door ("Coupe"), five-door, Sport Tourer estate and (reviewed separately) the CC coupe-cabriolet. A handful of four-door saloons were also sold in the range's earlier years. The Megane's well-equipped, generally comfortable, and good value for money; find out more in the full Which? road tests.

    Renault Wind black driving f3q

The Renault Wind is a roadster based on the Twingo; it has a metal folding roof, but as a tiny two-seater, it's a very different - and much more fun - prospect than the now-large Megane CC. But can it challenge the likes of the Mazda MX-5 as a sports car? Which? has the verdict.

  • Renault Koleos reviews

    1 review available (2008 - 2010) | Used price: from £9,125

    Renault Koleos 1

Renault's Koleos was late to the 4x4 party, being launched in 2008 - just when off-roaders were plummeting in popularity. With rivals like the Volkswagen Tiguan, Ford Kuga and the Nissan Qashqai, it struggled to make an impact, not least because of its dull styling, and was withdrawn from sale in the UK in August 2010.

  • Renault Twingo reviews

    1 review available (2007 - 2012) | Used price: from £4,395

    Renault Twingo 10

The reborn Twingo city car, more compact than a Clio but also less refined, lacks the character of the cute original (left-hand-drive only) but the addition of hot-hatch Renaultsport and Gordini versions to the line-up has boosted its appeal. If you're not up for the full 133bhp, then a still-sprightly 1.2 TCE turbo - with bonnet stripes, of course - has a certain charm. But is it the real deal? Which? gives the verdict.

  • Renault Modus reviews

    1 review available (2004 - 2012) | Used price: from £2,795

    Renault Modus 1

The Modus is Renault's mini-MPV, closely related to the Nissan Note (both models are based on the Nissan Micra/Renault Clio). Renault Grand Scenic silver static f3q

  • Renault Mégane CC reviews

    2 reviews available (2003 - 2012) | Used price: from £3,750

    Renault Megane CC 1

Renault's Megane CC, first launched in 2002, has a folding hard-top roof to give coupe-like refinement and comfort when you don't want the wind in your hair. It's a four-seater, and the latest-generation model (launched 2010) is substantially larger and more luxuriously-equipped. Read on for the full Which? verdict on both model-series.

  • Renault Scénic reviews

    2 reviews available (2003 - 2012) | Used price: from £2,175

    Renault Scenic 2009

The Renault Scenic - originally known as the Megane Scenic - was the first proper compact MPV on sale, though the Citroen Xsara Picasso soon came along and overtook it in the sales charts. It's been a firm favourite for many years amongst family buyers, however, liked for its roomy cabin, its low running costs, and its general usability. Can it still hold its own against newer and more fashionable rivals, however, and are there better secondhand choices? Which? gives a detailed verdict.

  • Renault Espace reviews

    1 review available (2003 - 2012) | Used price: from £3,225
