  • USED PRICE: From £1,125

The Renault Clio has proved one of the UK's favourite hatchbacks ever since it first launched in 1990. Recent versions have proven popular for a good balance of style, value and safety. Renaultsport hot hatch versions have long been hailed as some of the most rewarding driver's cars available.

New Renault Clio reviews

The current Clio, on sale since 2005 with a minor front-end restyling job in 2009, is an impressive all-rounder. There's a good amount of room in the front, but adults might find the rear cramped. We rate it slightly higher than it's main rival, the Peugeot 207 - but you might like to consider a Honda Jazz or Hyundai i20 for something a bit different in a supermini.

    New price: £8,805 - £21,590

The latest version of Renault's ever-popular Clio. An overhaul in 2009 brought it up to date but also bestowed 'Marmite' looks. Can it rival the Fiesta et al?
  • Renault Clio Sport Tourer (2008-)

    New price: £10,405 - £17,105

The estate version of Renault's popular supermini is a good all-rounder. It's decent to drive, economical and well-equipped - and the boot has plenty of space.

Used Renault Clio reviews

There are plenty of used Renault Clios around, so you should have a lot of choice buying second-hand. Renault reliability leaves something to be desired, so pick your car out carefully. Renaultsport models are likely to have lived a fairly hard life.
