  • USED PRICE: From £2,925

The 9-3 looks smart and wears an upmarket badge, although it's basically a Vauxhall Vectra underneath. Yes, you read that right - a Vectra, not the current Vauxhall Insignia. That means the smallest Saab has been on sale for nine years now - ancient in car terms. Still, there are a few reasons to consider it, and the four-seat convertible is a popular choice.

New Saab 9-3 reviews

Demand a big discount if you buy a Saab 9-3 new; this car is showing its age. Depreciation is on par with premium-badged rivals like the Audi A4 and BMW 3 Series, although the Saab is generally cheaper to buy in the first place. However, optional extras can be expensive.

The 9-3 lasted a long time under Saab but it's now dead. It's up against very stiff competition from prestige German brands.

Used Saab 9-3 reviews

Used 9-3s are relatively cheap to buy, though some are much better-equipped than others. Unfortunately, a poor reliability record - particularly for diesel versions - means running costs may be higher than you might hope. At least the future of the Saab seems secure in the hands of parent company Spyker, so getting parts shouldn't be an issue.
