Skoda car reviews

Forget the old jokes about Skoda. Once regarded as the lame duck of European brands, the Czech marque has enjoyed a major turnaround under the stewardship of parent company Volkswagen.

Models like the Fabia and Octavia have established Skoda as a producer of surprisingly high quality mainstream cars that offer great value. Skoda is now widening its market reach with new models such as the Roomster MPV and Yeti SUV.

Skoda owners seem a very happy bunch too, impressed with the dealers that sell and service their cars.

Skoda Fabia reviews

The Skoda Fabia is a cleanly-styled, well-built supermini available as a five-door hatchback or a mini-estate. Similar to the Volkswagen Polo, a close relation, it is more utility oriented, with practical packaging and a no-nonsense image. The second-generation models (from 2007) are notably bigger and more sophisticated.

Skoda Octavia reviews

The Skoda Octavia is a comfortable large family-sized hatchback which is easy to drive, affordable to buy, and cheap to run. It's also available as a practical estate, with variants including the high-riding Scout 4x4. It's been on sale since 1997, with second-generation models launched in 2004. Despite an overhaul in 2009, it's not the most state-of-the-art piece of machinery on the market - but its owners love it. Read on for the full Which? verdict.

Skoda Roomster reviews

The Skoda Roomster MPV is a bit of an oddball to look at, but it offers an impressive level of practicality. It's less van-like than the Citroen Berlingo Multispace and its ilk, and more pleasing to drive, yet roomier than most mini-MPVs. On sale since 2006, the range includes the SUV-lookalike Roomster Scout, though we'd stick with a cheaper, more down-to-earth version. For the full lowdown, check out the detailed Which? review.

Skoda Superb reviews

The Skoda Superb is either a step too far for Volkswagen's budget brand or one of the most underrated luxury cars around, depending on your badge-snobbery. First-generation models (2002-2008) were saloon-only; the Mk2 (2008-) has a curious saloon/hatchback hybrid tailgate for better practicality, and an estate arrived in 2010. Does the Superb live up to its (historic) name? Check out the full Which? verdict.

Skoda Yeti reviews

The Skoda Yeti is a compact crossover available with front- or four-wheel drive; it's a rival for the Nissan Qashqai and with 4WD, has a degree of off-roading ability. It's essentially a high-riding family car, however, and in that mode, it delivers low running costs, good interior space and all-round versatility. Read on for the full Which? lowdown.
