The Vauxhall Astra is a stalwart of the British car market. Ever-popular, it's now into its sixth generation and remains a strong rival for the Ford Focus and VW Golf. The five-door hatchback Astra is being joined by a Sports Tourer estate in 2011.

New Vauxhall Astra reviews

The Vauxhall Astra Mk6 looks sleeker than the old Astra Mk5 - and it drives more smoothly too. With some trim taken from the plush Insignia range, the Astra now feels much more up-market. A new Sport Tourer estate version should boost practicality a lot. The old Astra MkV Sport Hatch three-door remains on sale.
