On [date] I booked a table at your restaurant for my party of [number] to eat at [time].
When I made the booking on [date] I explained that the meal was to celebrate [details].
When we arrived we were told that [there was no record of the reservation/ no table was available].
You are therefore in breach of contract and I am entitled to receive compensation for losses I have as a result of your breach of contract, accordingly.
I expect you to cover the following expenses that served no purpose:

As I informed you when I made the reservation, the purpose of the meal was to celebrate [details of the special occasion such as a significant anniversary or special birthday] and accordingly in addition to the expenses above I am also claiming [£xx] compensation for loss of enjoyment and disappointment.
I look forward to receiving your cheque for this amount within the next 14 days.
