Restaurant of the Year Award Recognising excellence and good service at restaurants, gastropubs and cafés around the UK

About the award
The Which? Good Food Guide Restaurant of the Year award recognises excellence and good service at restaurants, pubs and cafés throughout the UK.
Members of the public are invited to nominate their favourite, independently owned establishment – preferably one that offers regional dishes and/or uses local produce.
From these nominations, there will be ten regional winners and they will all feature in the brand new 2009 edition of The Good Food Guide, which is published in September 2008.
The overall Restaurant of the Year will be chosen by the Good Food Guide team from the list of the ten regional winners, and will be announced on 17 June.
Last year we received thousands of votes during the nomination period, and we learned about lots of new, up-and-coming restaurants that were proving popular with the public. This year, we expect to learn about even more.
Elizabeth Carter, Consultant Editor for The Good Food Guide says: ‘The Good Food Guide has always invited reader feedback, and this award builds on that by formally recognising the restaurants that the public love to visit.’

The Good Food Guide 2008
The Good Food Guide has changed. Completely redesigned, printed in full colour and now listed in county order the 2008 edition also features more recommendations from our readers, top-ten lists and feature articles. The book is interspersed with a variety of features from chefs, producers and experts to capture the imagination of the curious food.
But above all, the Good Food Guide still remains Britain’s leading restaurant review. It is thoroughly independent and universally respected. Inside, you’ll find detailed descriptions of over 1,500 establishments, representing truly diverse eating experiences, from gastropubs through to high-end dining. Each review provides up-to-the-minute information on new openings, prices, chefs, menus and wine lists.
Now in its 56th edition, the Good Food Guide is completely rewritten every year. We accept no advertising, sponsorship or fees for inclusion, and all of our inspections are entirely anonymous. Whether you’re looking for a business lunch, a birthday dinner with friends or a once-in-a-lifetime blow-out meal, the Good Food Guide is bound to feature the perfect venue.
