Make the most of water Collect rainwater

Rainwater is free and, with climate change causing a decline in summer rain, it pays to save every last drop. All you need is a water butt – you'll be amazed how quickly even a small one attached to a shed or greenhouse roof can fill up. And if you've got space, it's worth installing more than one butt per downpipe and joining them together with a water butt link kit – a length of hose with a nut at each end – which you should be able to pick up for about £7.
