Efergy Showertime December 2009
Want to save bucket-loads of water when you shower? The Efergy Showertime is designed to help.
The Efergy Showertime a clock and a shower timer rolled into one and whether you hang it up or stick it to the wall, using it every day could help you to save thousands of litres of water a year in the shower.
The Efergy Showertime is a clock, timer and alarm that’s designed to save water while you shower – and it seems to work.
To set up the Efergy Showertime, you first need to record how quickly a litre of water passes through your shower head, by timing how long the plastic measuring bag provided takes to fill up with water. You then need to set the amount of water you think you should use – the instructions help guide you - and turn on the Showertime each time you take a shower.
The visuals are good - the amount of water used is displayed in large figures on an LCD display, and drops of water fall and gradually fill up one side of the screen. When it’s full, the alarm sounds to tell you that you've used enough water.
We found it easy to set and adjust. The instructions are clear and make good use of symbols and you can set the display to litres or gallons. The Showertime comes with a cord so it can be hung on a hook, and a suction cap that sticks to glass or tiles. When it’s not timing you in the shower, it doubles up as a bathroom clock - although the figures are a bit small.
The Efergy Showertime is available for £8.99, plus p&p, from Green Stamp.
Pros: A cheap and easy way to save water while you shower.
Cons: Not the first shower timer we’ve seen that works like this, the figures on the clock are small.
