Virgin Media is at this year's Ideal Home Show with a demo of a new 'ultrafast' 200Mb broadband service. It claims this will be the UK's fastest broadband connection when it is rolled out across Virgin Media's cable network.

The 200Mb broadband service has been trialling in Kent since summer 2009 and has recently been extended to Coventry. 

According to Virgin Media, the service will allow consumers to 'download a music album in just three seconds, an hour-long TV show in 16 seconds and a high definition (HD) film in just three minutes, 42 seconds'. 

That's compared to the '11 seconds', 'one minute and two seconds' and '14 minutes, 49 seconds' it calculates its 50Mb broadband service is able to perform those tasks in.
