Built-in ovens: How to buy the best oven Sizes of oven

Ovens come in a number of different standard sizes to slot into fitted kitchen cabinets, so make sure you buy the right size of oven for your kitchen.

Built-under ovens

single-gas

Single gas oven with grill

Some built-in ovens can can be built under a kitchen counter. Double ovens up to about 72cm high and single ovens which are about 60cm will be able to be built under a counter.

Built-in eye level ovens

The other place to install a built-in oven is into a kitchen cabinet at eye-level – this makes loading and unloading the ovens easier and is something to consider if you have back pain and find bending down difficult. Because of their size, larger built-in ovens will need to be installed at eye level. So if you like the look of a 90cm tall model, be aware this won’t fit under a kitchen counter.

Built-in oven widths and depths

Both types of oven are about 60cm wide and 55cm deep. Always check that the built-in oven you’re buying will fit the space in your kitchen.
