Smeg cookers
Italian brand Smeg offers several cookers in its ‘Concert’ and ‘Opera’ ranges. This guide focuses on Smeg freestanding cookers - to find out about Smeg range cookers, visit our best range cooker brands guide.
We’ve run extensive tests on the SUK62CMX5 and SUK61CPX5 Smeg freestanding cookers in our test lab. To find out how each model scored, visit the Which? cooker reviews.
Smeg cookers aren’t cheap – the ones we’ve tested typically cost between £750 and £850. If these models don’t suit your budget, you can use our compare cookers tool to find one that does.
Smeg cooker reviews
In our tough lab tests, Smeg cookers tend to score well or excellently for grilling and hob performance. However, while one model scores excellently for oven performance, the other scores poorly. This highlights the importance of choosing a cooker by model rather than by brand.
Smeg's SUK61CPX5 cooker
Smeg cookers have achieved average scores in our ease of use tests and average to poor scores for ease of cleaning. To test how easy a cooker is to clean we let a pan of rice water boiler over and heat a frying pan of oil so fat splatters on the hob.
We also use chicken fat to dirty the inside of the oven and leave all these soils overnight. We then attempt to clean the oven using warm water, washing up liquid and a heavy duty scrub sponge. The best models will require the least effort to clean.
If you’re considering buying a Smeg cooker, check how well it scores on a variety of criteria, and how well it compares to other cookers on the market, by visiting our cooker test results.
Both the Smeg cookers we’ve tested come with ceramic hotplates and a fan oven. One also comes with an additional multifunction oven, which offers fan, grill and conventional oven cooking.
If you want to pick an oven with certain features, such as a double oven, ceramic hotplate or separate grill, check out the specification tabs in our cookers reviews.
