In the Which? lab we test food processors against a wide range of criteria, and have found a significant difference between the best and worst models.
The tasks we test them for include chopping nuts and onions, slicing cucumber and carrot, kneading bread dough, whipping cream, preparing mayonnaise and making milkshakes.

Each of our tests is thorough – for example, when we test for kneading, we use the food processor to knead bread dough, then bake it to see if it’s been kneaded enough to rise properly. We also check the consistency of the bread to see whether there are any large air holes.
As well as scoring for performance, we rate each model for build quality, ease of assembly, ease of cleaning and noise.
