LG fridge freezers

Korean brand LG offers a wide range of fridge freezers including a significant number of American-style side-by-side models. LG says that its stylish fridge freezers offer the ‘ultimate cool, inside and out’.

We’ve run extensive tests on 11 LG fridge freezers in our test lab, including the LG GCF399B and LG GWL227HSYA models. To find out how each model scored, visit the Which? fridge freezer reviews.

The LG fridge freezers we’ve tested typically cost between £600 and £1,000, although we have tested one cheaper model, which costs around £400, and one more expensive model which costs nearly £2,000. You can use our compare fridge freezers tool to find a fridge freezer that suits your budget.

LG fridge freezer reviews

In our lab tests, LG fridge freezers tend to score excellently for fridge and freezer temperature stability and most models score excellently in our tests for uniform fridge temperature (the difference between the coldest and warmest parts of the fridge). This is important as it means unwanted warmer spots won’t develop so you don’t need to store certain foods in particular places.

All the LG models we’ve tested have a frost-free freezer which means they don’t need regular defrosting. Buying a frost-free model will make your life easier, but make sure you don’t over pack it as air needs to circulate to keep the frost at bay.

In our tests LG models tend to score average to well for fridge power (how quickly the fridge cools to the correct temperature), but scores for freezer power (the amount of food it can freeze to -18°C in 24 hours) range from good to very poor. If you’re considering buying a specific LG fridge freezer, check how well it scores for a variety of criteria by visiting our fridge freezer test results.

An important factor to consider when choosing your fridge freezer is how much it will cost you to run. After central heating, your fridge freezer is likely to be biggest energy user in your home, so finding one that’s cheap to run could save you a fair bit of cash.

The running costs for the LG fridge freezers we’ve tested range from £30 to £65 a year – you can check the specifications of each model in our fridge freezer reviews to find the most efficient model for your home.

Three of the LG fridge freezers we’ve tested come with an ice maker, which is a nice luxury, although they can take up a fair bit of space in the freezer and will need to be plumbed into the mains. If you want ice on demand, you can use our compare fridge freezers tool to identify all the models we’ve tested that come with ice makers.
