In the past, we’ve been fairly impressed with the performance of LG microwaves in our tests. Most models we’ve tested have scored well or excellently for quality of food, and well for ease of use.
To test a microwave’s defrosting performance we defrost lean minced beef, shaped to specific dimensions and frozen for at least 12 hours. Once it's defrosted, we leave it to stand for five minutes, then check for hot or cold spots and measure the maximum and minimum temperatures of the meat. Poor microwaves will start to cook parts of the mince, while leaving other bits frozen.
