Whirlpool microwaves

American brand Whirlpool offers a wide range of microwaves. The majority of them feature ‘Jet Defrost’ technology, which Whirlpool claims can defrost 200g of minced meat in just over two minutes.

We’ve run extensive tests on 18 Whirlpool microwaves in our test lab, including the JT366/BL, VT266/BL and FT339/SL models. To find out how each scored, visit the Which? microwaves review.

The Whirlpool microwaves we’ve tested typically cost between £90 and £250. If these models don’t suit your budget, you can use our compare microwaves tool to find one that does.

Whirlpool microwave reviews

In the Which? lab we test microwaves on a wide range of criteria and have found a significant difference between the best and worst models.

In our tough tests, Whirlpool microwaves tend to score well or excellently for speed of cooking, and most models also score well or excellently for quality of food and defrosting performance.

However, just over a third of the models we’ve tested score poorly for evenness of cooking and one model scores very poorly for grilling.

To test microwaves for grilling performance, we measure how widely and evenly the grill browns slices of white, crustless bread. Poorer microwaves tend to over-brown the food in the centre, while leaving the outer edges pale.

If you want a microwave that is particularly good at grilling, check out the grill test scores for each model in the microwave reviews.

If you’re considering buying a specific Whirlpool microwave, check how well it scores on a variety of criteria, by visiting our microwave test results.
