Best oven brands Whirlpool ovens
Whirlpool ovens
American brand Whirlpool offers a range of single and double ovens, including several models with ‘6th sense technology’. Whirlpool says this technology makes cooking easier by constantly checking the weight of your food and the temperature inside the oven, and automatically adapting its settings to cook your meal perfectly.
We’ve run extensive tests on four Whirlpool ovens in our test lab – the AKP201/IX, AKP201/WH, AKP951/IX and AKP951/WH. To find out how each scored, visit the Which? ovens review.
The Whirlpool ovens we’ve tested typically cost between £250 and £650. You can use our compare ovens tool to find a model that suits your budget.
Whirlpool ovens reviews
In our tough lab tests, Whirlpool ovens tend to score particularly well for oven heat distribution. To test how effectively an oven distributes heat, we bake two trays of fairy cakes on different shelves. The best ovens produce 24 cakes that are all well-risen, uniformly cooked and an even golden brown colour.
Whirlpool ovens also tend to achieve average to good scores for accuracy of controls. However, while half the models score excellently for evenness of grilling, the other two score poorly. Scores also range from excellent to poor for preheating speed and from good to poor for how easy they are to clean.
To test how easy an oven is to clean, we spread a mince and gravy paste on the oven base and one panel, and margarine on the other panel. We then bake them at 180°C for 30 minutes and check how easy they are to clean by hand. None of the Whirlpool ovens we’ve tested has a self-cleaning function.
If you’re considering buying a Whirlpool oven, check how well it scores on a variety of criteria, by visiting our ovens test results. Here you will also find our compare ovens tool which can help you find an oven that best suits your needs.
As well as testing ovens in our lab, we also survey thousands of ovens owners to find out how happy they are with their oven brand and whether they’d recommend it to a friend.
