It makes a good cup of coffee but has always drippped like mad. The milk froths more, the older it is.

Excellent coffee maker
We have had this machine for well over a year now and it makes really brilliant expressos from ISE pods. It is quick and easy to use, and using the pods ensure there is no mess, so cleaning the machine needs only a quick wipe. We have had no problems at all. We don't make white coffee so have not used the milk steaming attachment at all

Great expresso maker at bargain price
This machine does exactly what you expect makes great expresso. Not into milky coffe so cannot give opinion on the steamer/frother. Not had problems with leaking as some people have mentioned but do descale it every 2 to 3 months so perhaps this helps. I managed to buy the aubergine coloured version for £89 so a great bargain!

I have had mine 2 years and am pleased with it. A couple of ideas that have helped me. 1. Fresh milk does not froth as well as milk that is nearing its sell by date; 2. To stop it from tasting metallic run the steamer to waste until it stops ejecting a water/steam mix, pour this waste away and only then get it to froth the milk. Bingo!

As a follow up to my previous review I have to report that my machine is only working intermittingly and I'm very disappointed. There is obviously faults with this machine that De Longhi need to address. I now have to save up for another coffee machine and I'll probably look for a different make. I did look after my machine by regularly descaling and keeping clean but I rather hoped it would last longer than two years. I will buy one that uses ESE pods as well as grounds as I have found an excellent online site which offers a good selection.

I was given this machine as a Mother's Day present two years ago and love the coffee it produces. I quickly moved on to pods which I purchase online for less mess and consistancy and have mastered the art of a great cappuccino. However, I have to agree with other users that not only does it leak but has now lost pressure. When I sourced this problen online I found out that the loss in pressure was common in this machine and it sometimes responds to a good thump! I felt I had nothing to lose so having removed the water tank and unplugged it, I turned it upside down and gave it a good shake and a couple of thumps! This high tech solution to the problem will probably not be approved of by the makers but it works for me. The leak hasn't been solved but does improve with regular descaling and cleaning. I really like the Icona -it looks good in my kitchen, is easy to use and makes great coffee from pod or grounds. The pressure problem is a major one though and because it seems to be a common occurance I'm not sure if I would replace it with the same make. If I did, I would make sure I had my receipt handy and as soon as there is a problem I would take it back as one shouldn't need to resort to violence to get a good cup of coffee. On coffee alone I would give 5 ticks but because of the pressure/leaks problem I have to give 3 ticks.

2nd time lucky?
Bought one of these which worked very well at first. But after a couple of months it developed 2 faults. The 1st, a minor fault, was that it dripped water from where the coffee holder is inserted. 2nd was that when I tried to froth the milk it rapidly boiled it far too fast which quickly made the milk overspill the container. The froth was very loose. Not sure if it was heating the water too much or what. Dilonghi help was no good. I explained that I had done everything according to the instructions without success. They suggested I take it in for repair to the nearest authorised dealer (18 miles away). Instead I returned it to Tesco and got a replacement within 2 days without any hassle.New machine is working well so far, producing a lovely thick froth the same, if not better than Costa, and that's saying something!! It remains to be seen if this one continues fault free.

It says in the Which review that this machine takes 15 mins to make a drink.Since I've been using this machine,it's only taken about 5mins at the most. How did it take those testing this machine 15 mins?

I bought this machine from Amazon in June 2012.I preferred the blue model as it makes my kitchen brighter. As for the machine. When I first tried to use it,it made a terrible grinding sound.I contacted De Longhi and they told me it was simply an air blockage because it was brand new.The other query I have is that when I use ground coffee, the machine produces a weak drink.I assume this my partly because it's a new machine. But apart from that. This a very good machine made to last, and will make 1000's of mugs of coffee.

Gorgeous coffee and quick and easy to use
We have owned this for about 9 months and use it several times a week.I'm very surprised to hear that it can take up to 15 minutes to warm up because we never have to wait more than a couple of minutes for ours - perhaps because we never use a full tank of water.Bought this because of the price and the fact that we could buy an aubergine one which looks really lovely. Makes a gorgeous Latte really easily and I think the crema on an espresso is fantastic. I agree that the tamper is a bit obscured and I always struggle to find the right place to put the filter holder in and have to hold on to the machine firmly to screw it in.My only complaint is the fact that it jiggles quite a bit when pumping the water and I have to hold my little espresso cups firmly in place to stop them moving away from under the spouts. I always make sure to open the steam vent before putting it into the milk frother because it does get a bit watery at first too.Would recommend and buy again.

I've had my machine for about a year now, and I've found it dispenses consistently good coffee. A few months ago it started to 'dribble' as it warmed up. I spoke to John Lewis and they would have happily exchanged it - but then I gave descaling a try. Lo and behold, the machine stopped dribbling and works like new. I wonder how many otherwise-serviceable machines John Lewis has taken back unnecessarily?

I've used this almost daily for 6 months. It dispenses small quantities of excellent coffee - I just wish it could dispense more! My machine, (like Batlaw's, above) has started to leak into the filter before the machine has warmed up - which ruins the coffee. I therefore don't fill the filter with coffee until the last minute. Tamping is tricky with this machine - the tamping device is half obscured, and trying to tamp upwards is inaccurate and awkward. Why couldn't the manufacturers simply provide a coffee spoon that doubles as a tamping device which you can press down onto the coffee?
