Faultless and simple machine!
It is quick to use and makes a good shot with a good crema provided the filter basket is cleaned every few weeks. It is also easy to clean.

Brilliant!
I've had this for a year and I was a bit sceptical about home espresso machines having had one that died after about three weeks 10 years ago. However this machine is simply brilliant turning out cup after cup of really good coffee. What I would say is that you have to remember to descale and clean properly. I did have a problem at one stage after about six months with the kind of dripping/leak described elsewhere but when I performed a descale the problem went away completely - not a single drip. Similarly if the milk nozzle isn't working well it'll be because you've not cleaned it properly. I've found that I can still use the same coffee I was using in my old cafetiere (Sainsbury's French style) but it makes a far superior cup. Another plus is that I find it works equally well with cow's milk and soya milk (although I only use soya light - the regular kind might not work as well). When I bought it I was a bit worried it would end up being an attractive but useless addition to my kitchen but I've been very pleasantly surprised. Some have complained of the machine being noisy - I guess it is, but as it's only for the 15 seconds or so it takes to produce the coffee I don't really find it an issue. As another reviewer mentioned the only real downside is that it will make you increase your coffee consumption!

As good as it gets
I have had mine for about a year now, no issues, breakdowns or gremlins.I use it about 2-4 times per week. I usually make 2 cups at a time, I steam about 400ml of milk in a Pyrex jug at the same time as I get the dripper ready. I use several different roasts of bean and all produce excellent results, better than shop bought lattes. it warms up in about 5 minutes.I once made 9 cups on the trot with superb results. I had a lesser model before, (same brand), that lasted about 2 years. I upgraded so it could cope with a larger quantity.

simply doesn't last
we have just returned our second machine. One lasted 10 months, the other 11. The second one was too loud. Both begun to leak from machine base and the second one leaked from steamer and filter after a few months. Time to move on.

Vagaries of this page
Due to the vagaries of this Which page my review suggested a high price of £1803!! Actually I meant £180 - obviously, followed by point number 3

Excellent but...
I have had this red machine for about 2 months , and so far it has been excellent. Points to note:- 1.Mine seems to heat up a lot quicker than the 15 mins suggested by Which - maybe 5 mins or so.2.Shop around, depending on the colour they can vary from about £90 to £1803. Mine is quite noisy - but that doesn't bother me4. You soon learn to use the "widget" - see Wustpisk's commentHaving said that - the most important bit is that it makes excellent coffee very easily.

Heats up quickly
I bought this product from John Lewis and am delighted with it. I expected it to be slow to warm up as reported in the Which review, but on the contrary it only takes about 90 seconds to warm up.

Great machine
This was my first experience of a coffee maker and I haven't been disappointed. It is very easy to use but took me a couple of weeks before I had really sussed it and now I use it daily like a trained Barista!I have the red machine which looks very smart in my kitchen and I managed to get it for about £70 on Amazon just before Christmas. Buy it you won't regret it!

Good for a few months, but after a year is far from good.
This is a great looking machine, it's easy to clean and works well with limited usage for a few months. However, ours began to leak heavily just after the 12months warranty expired. Not great value for money then!

OK if you can afford to replace annually
1st machine lasted just beyond warranty period of 1 year then began to leak large volumes of water from steamer nozzle. Replacement machine has just broken 2 months after delivery: thermostat has stopped working. Both machines noisy but lovely coffee as long as you don't mind waiting. The heater only stays on for a small volume of coffee, so each 40ml cup is a 'stop-start' affair

All style and no substance
I was so excited when I found out that we had been given this gorgeous coffee maker as a wedding gift. It looked amazing in our kitchen and the first few attempts went quite well. It does take a long time to heat up, not at all useful for when rushing out to work in the mornings, however the tipping point for us was when water started leaking out of the base of the machine and the steam tap stopped working. This was only after 4 or 5 times of using it! We have since returned it to the shop and are looking for a different model.
