Fridge freezer reviews: Reliability

90%The reliablity score for the most reliable fridge freezer brand

Every year we survey thousands of Which? members about their home appliances to find out which brands are the most reliable. Here we reveal our results and show you reliability ratings for the most reliable fridge freezer brands.

This year, over 3,500 Which? members have told us about the reliability record of their freestanding, built-in and American fridge freezers. We've heard about minor niggles, such as a faulty light, as well as major problems with the compressor or condenser that would mean you would have to buy a new fridge freezer.

To see how well fridge freezers from big brands such as Beko, Bosch, Hotpoint and Samsung fare in our tough chilling and freezing tests, check out our fridge freezers review area.

Most reliable fridge freezer brands

Fridge freezers aren't as reliable as standalone fridges or freezers. But fridge freezers are still pretty reliable and don't often break down or develop faults, so we think extended warranties could be a waste of money. If you're thinking about buying an extended warranty or service agreement and want to know what to expect, check out our extended warranties advice guide.

We surveyed 3,712 Which? members to get reliability scores you can trust for 15 of the biggest fridge freezer brands. Some fridge freezer brands achieved very high reliability scores, with the top two scoring 90% and 89%.

Only logged-in Which? members can view full scores in our fridge freezer reliability table below. If you're not already a member, you can sign up to try full access to Which? reviews for one month, for just £1.

Reliability and Best Buys

A fridge freezer can qualify as a Best Buy if its brand scores at least three stars in our survey of thousands of owners – in which we ask how often their appliances have broken down - or it has a free 5-year warranty.

But as fridge freezers are generally reliable, we also allow models to be Best Buys if we don’t yet have a reliability rating, unless we know this brand has a poor track record for similar appliances.
