Fryers: Compare features & prices Russell Hobbs Digital 17942 review Back to Results

The Russell Hobbs Digital 17942 fryer is one of the few fryers weve tested with a digital timer, so you can set it to cook for a certain length of time. But how good is it at frying chips and scampi?

Russell Hobbs deep fat fryer
The unit is not over-large in terms of the space it takes up on the worktop and it has a generous internal capacity, also heats up fast and makes great chips - BUT - I bought it thinking it had an odour filter (as did my old fryer) but it does not - the outlets on the lid let the grease and steam escape so I have only used it once as my whole kitchen reeked of cooking oil for a good couple of days afterwards. Don't be seduced by the 'digital' feature, it's just a glorified egg timer!

Does not cook chips evenly and browns them too quickly before cooked inside.
