With matching toasters and a range of colours to choose from, the stylish 54005 cordless kettle from Prestige would look at home in either a modern or traditional kitchen. We wanted to find out how fast it boils, and whether the retro styling makes it more difficult to use than a modern jug kettle, and put this Prestige kettle to the test in our labs.

The weight of the empty kettle.
Matching set
If 'yes', then the kettle has a matching toaster.
Reduced temperature settings
What settings, if any, are available which allow you to heat the kettle to less than 100°C.
Concealed element
If 'yes', then the kettle's heating element is hidden from view, usually in the bottom of the kettle. Kettles with exposed elements tend to be harder to clean.
360° base
If 'yes', then the kettle fits onto the base from any angle.
Boil-dry protection
