When we test microwaves we see how well they heat and defrost food, we record how much energy they use and how noisy they are. We run heating tests on all types of microwave to see how quickly and evenly they heat on full-power and we test them when heating a single dish, and then when heating dishes consecutively. Our defrost test uses slabs of frozen mince and we test the microwaves on manual, and automatic defrost settings.

For grill microwaves and combis we see how well the grills spread heat by toasting crustless-bread and for combis, we test their convection power by baking  cakes. We record how noisy the microwaves are when heating on full power and when defrosting. And for all microwaves we check how much energy they use in microwave heating mode.
