Microwaves: Compare features & prices Swan SM2090R review

The Swan SM2090R solo microwave is a basic model so you won't find any automatic cooking or defrosting programs, and neither does it come with any accessories. But we put this solo microwave to the test to find out if it makes up in functionality what it lacks in fancy extras.

Disappointed
I found that the lack of a timer was unhelpful. Also if you wanted to do anything under two minutes, you first had to adjust the dial to more than two minutes and then go under. The timings are in minutes, so not helpful if you just want to do it for a few seconds. The one I bought from very.co.uk was faulty, the plate would start to revolve before I finished setting the time. Also it would stop with just two minutes to go.Found it odd that Which? was so positive about it... I know it's cheap but it's cheap for a reason, in my opinion.

I bought this microwave from Argos and would swear that this is exactly the same as the swan. Pointers at the end of the dial were hidden and the only way of being sure was to put one's eye up close to the dial. There were two dials and that was it. If you wanted only one minute you have to enter the dial to 2 minutes as if you put it on no. 1 it would cut out at 30 seconds. On the dial there is a notch at the end of the dial whereby you would have guess if you were on the 1 or not. There was no defrost facility and you would have to guess if it gave 1 whole minute. Did not heat well, and the final criticism was they stuck a big sticker right on the front of the door, making it impossible to get it off. I tried for 1/2 hour and it still shows where the sticker was. Sorry I bough it, and would change it if I could, Takes microwaving back to the dark ages. I would give this a 0 out of 10.

I agree with above and someone elses comment about not giving internal dimensions. Would also like to know the finish INSIDE the oven as I'm fed up with the internal carcase going rusty!!

Why review identical ovens in different colours.
I think Which inflates the figures they quote for the number of items they have tested, simply by giving results for the same item but just in different colours, these Swan Microwaves are just one example. I doubt if they actually tested every oven if the only difference is the colour!
