I’m sorry to hear that it hasn’t lived up to your expectations. We certainly carry out thorough tests for all of the range cookers on the which.co.uk site. We record how quickly the ovens heat up, how accurately they heat and how well the heat spreads around the oven. We test how well the grill spreads heat and how well the hob works at low and high temperatures. And we run thorough ease of use and safety tests for all range cookers. Our tests are aimed at showing which cookers will be best at cooking and which ones are easiest to use. For many products we also carry out reliability surveys to show which brands are more reliable than others. Range cooker brands sell in relatively small numbers, compared with freestanding cookers and ovens, and because of this we don’t receive enough survey responses to be able to publish reliability scores for brands. We don’t carry out durability tests and as such, wouldn’t have been able to see the effect of heat on the control knobs. This is one reason why member generated reviews are so important. We can tell Which? members how well a product works, how easy it is to use and in many cases, how reliable it is, but we don’t live with the products day-in-day-out and don’t see the niggles that might make a product hard to live with. Thanks again for posting your experiences here. The biggest problem i and a lot of people have found (looking at various forums) is the cheep plastic knobs. the heat from the upper oven totally destroys the knobs so render them useless. Then at a cost of £7 + to replace them each is a total robbery . in my opinion the cost of this cooker is not cheep and i expected a far more robust appliance that would last i now need to order four more knobs as the replacement ones sent to me by Belling have now also melted. DON'T BUY THIS COOKER OR YOU WILL ALSO HAVE TO BUY KNOB AFTER KNOB. I am also very very disappointed in WHICH for not carrying out proper tests before posting the cooker as a BEST BUY. Pros: Cons:
