Vacuum cleaners: Vacuum cleaner parts and spares Dyson spares
Where to find Dyson spares
Dyson's stylish cylinder, compact and upright vacuum cleaners make a popular choice in UK homes - and the manufacturer's five-year parts-and-labour guarantee is an equally attractive feature - and worth remembering if something goes wrong with your appliance.
But outside of that five-year window, or if it's for a wear-and-tear repair, where can you find cheap Dyson spares, and what parts are available?
Buying Dyson spares
Dyson spare parts are available at a range of online outlets, including the company's own spares and accessories outlet, where you can buy genuine parts to fix uprights, cylinders or handheld Dyson vacs. If you're unsure what's wrong with your Dyson vac, our vacuum cleaner parts page may be able to help you diagnose the problem, or you may need to call in a professional repairer.
You'll need to know the model or serial number of your Dyson before you order spare parts, as some Dyson spares are for specific models only. Consult your vacuum cleaner instruction booklet or look for the number printed on the product itself.
Dyson spares - including handheld vacuum cleaner chargers, filters, brushes and brush heads - are all available, as well as extras such as cleaning kits and specialist cleaning tools.

Dyson also has a troubleshooting tool on its website designed to help you work out what's wrong with your Dyson, plus a handy email service that reminds you to clean or replace your vacuum filter every six months.
Other places to find cheap Dyson spares
Dyson spares are also available to buy from various other online stores, including Espares, Partmaster, Partsmaster and BuySpares, so it's worth shopping around to find the best deal on spare parts.
Dyson parts-and-labour guarantee
Dyson offers a five-year parts-and-labour guarantee on its upright and cylinder vacuum cleaners, and a two-year guarantee for handheld vacs. You'll need to register your vacuum cleaner when you buy it.
The guarantee covers the repair or replacement of your vacuum cleaner 'if your vacuum cleaner is found to be defective due to faulty materials, workmanship or function', but it doesn't cover simple wear and tear or accidental damage.
Bear in mind that you'll invalidate your guarantee if you use spare parts that aren't genuine Dyson components, or use a non-Dyson authorised repairer.
Find a vacuum cleaner repairer
If you're looking for a vacuum cleaner repairer then contact Dyson to arrange for an authorised repairer to fix your vac. Dyson offers a fixed price for repair and parts of £69.
Alternatively you could try contacting a local independent, though quoted prices can differ. When we called 158 different independent repairers in January 2010 to get a quote for replacing a motor on a Hoover vacuum cleaner, prices ranged from £50 to £97.
