Breville irons

Australian brand Breville, which is now owned by Pulse Home Products Ltd, offers a wide range of colourful irons, as well as a couple of steam generators.

We’ve run extensive tests on 11 Breville irons in our test lab, including the VIN157 Technique, VIN143 Easy Glide 1800 and VIN002 Power Steam models. We’ve also tested the VIN153 High Performance steam generator. To find out how each model scored, visit the Which? iron reviews.

The Breville irons we’ve tested typically cost around £15 to £50, while the VIN153 High Performance steam generator costs around £70. You can use our compare irons tool to find an iron or steam generator that suits your budget.

Breville irons reviews

In tough Which? tests, Breville irons tend to achieve average to excellent scores for noise and overall convenience, and a couple of models score excellently for how well they descale.

However, one model scores very poorly for heat-up time, several models score poorly for performance, which is based on the effort required to get good results and the quality of the results achieved overall, and scores for ease of use vary from excellent to poor.

Ease-of-use scores are awarded based on several factors including how easy the iron is to fill, how long it can steam for, the comfort of the handle, the ease of using the controls and the length and placement of the power cord.

If you’re considering buying a specific Breville iron or steam generator, check how well it scores on a variety of criteria, by visiting our iron test results.

The length of time Breville irons produce steam for varies quite significantly, with the best model we’ve tested able to steam for 23 minutes on one tank of water, and the worst for just 12 minutes. One model comes with a removable anti-calcium cartridge and several models have an auto shut-off function, which means they will automatically turn themselves off if they are not used for a set period of time.

If you are concerned about safety, you can use our compare irons tool to discover all the models we’ve tested that come with an auto shut-off function.
