We tested our stain removers on 14 different stains, including food, drink, make-up, soil, grease and oil and general dirt. The results of all those tests make up the total stain removal star rating.

We then rated the instructions and how easy the stain removers were to use, taking into consideration how easy the stain removers were to apply to the stain, how easy it was to get an accurate dose and how easy it was to dispense that dose without making a mess.
