This upright Vax Rapide Deluxe V-026 carpet cleaner is cheaper and lighter than many we've tested, but does it get carpets deep-down clean? We sent this Vax carpet cleaner to the lab to find out.

Wish I'd bought a different one.
I bought one of these and wish I hadn't. As the review says, the performance is poor; I would not mind the wet carpets so much if it got the dirt out properly. I've just bough the improved cleaning fluid and will see if that makes a difference. assuming it still works. If not, it goes and I'll get a Bissell instead.
I had one of these; it now resides at the dump. I couldnt bring it upon myself to sell it to some poor unsuspecting hopeful houseproud. I had it for about a year before problems, but I had only used it 3 times in this period before the pump burnt out. Not a problem I thought, your an electrical engineer, so I purchased a new pump (quite costly) and fitted it within a jiffy; perfect! You know, these things just aren't used that regularly. Anyway roughly 3 uses later low and behold the same thing> Well with Faith lost it went to the new home. now looking for replacement, Best buy Bissel looks good but feedback worries me! Help!
Great little scrubber
Purchased this after my faithful old round vax washer wore out,It was simple to assemble and was readt to be used in half an hour.I have been very pleased with the results, as this is not one of those cleaners that heats the water or drys as it goes,it cleans very well with ease its not very heavy to move about. The carpets were left a little wet however a couple of hours later they were almost dry.We have 2 dogs one long haired one and the hair it picked up was great. For the price its been a great buy and i have not been disappointed.

I have owned this carpet cleaner for two years and have found it satisfatory at cleaning my carpets. We have cats and it is good at cleaning up the fine pet hair that seems to get ground in over time. The trick seems to be to move the machine VERY slowly across the carpet, in order to allow it time to 'do its stuff'. It does leave the carpets a bit damp, but not wet. I leave the cental heating on for a bit longer when I have cleaned the carpet and it is hardly damp at all by morning. The waste water container is a bit fiddly to get seated properly, but you get the knack soon enough. You also have to empty it frequently.I would buy one again.
