Are you sure this is a Best Buy?
I have the Rapide Ultra W90-RU-B, which is the model that comes without the pre-treatment wand.I've previously used the carpet cleaner that can be hired from Morrisons supermarket, amongst other places, which I found to be extremely good. In comparison, I found the Vax poor. It left dirty/clean stripes along the carpets and it took several passes with the machine to remove some stains (not entirely successfully). I used it again a week later to try to remove the stripes, but the solution trigger failed to operate so no cleaning solution to the carpet, either through the machine or the handheld wash tool. It's now useless.

Does excellent job - when it works
This is a good product but its reliability is poor. To date my machine has been replaced twice for the same fault - a leak under the machine when using the wand. This, of course, means pools of dirty water being left on already cleaned carpet. The recurring fault has however enabled us to establish a good relationship with the courier driver! He is well used, it seems, to VAX's excellent customer care system: they send you a large plastic bag; you put everything in it; courier removes and arrives a few days later with a new one in a box.So ***** customer service, ***** for use, but a dismal * for reliability, hence my overall *** marking. We've had the latest a few weeks and used three times .... fingers crossed.

Satisfying and Powerful
Upon receiving my brand new Vax Rapide Ultra 2, I became very excited as I am the epitome of this Carpet Cleaner’s reason, having three Children, a Dog and a cream carpet.Previously having no easy way to clean my carpets, the cream mid-pile carpet had flattened and turned a mottled shade of brown especially on the through routes from Hall to Living room and those from the Utility to the Dining room. I had stains on the floor from where Coffee and Cola had spilled in awkward places and had desperately tried to soak it up with old towels over the years. The Vax Rapide’s box is not of a wasteful size; all supplementary tools are tucked in convenient spaces so as to fill the box.The Carpet Cleaner itself is quite heavy to lift, yet upon using, is surprisingly easy to manoeuvre. To fill with Vax detergent and tepid water was simple with uncomplicated instructions and with the use of a measuring jug and spoons and a funnel, the tank filled without spillage or complication.I used the pre-treatment wand and solution on the ground in stains, this solution only has to remain on the Carpet for 10-15 minutes before continuing with the Main Clean, leaving sufficient time to thoroughly rinse the tank and refill with the correct ratio of the main cleaning solution. As mentioned before, the unit is almost effortless to push and pull despite myself having back and walking problems. The mechanism to disperse the fluid is a cinch to master and upon releasing the button and pulling back seeing the dirt filled water being sucked up was wonderfully satisfying. Immediately after what felt like a deep clean, I felt the carpet with my hand; it was damp, but not wet. After three quarters of an hour the carpet was dry to the touch and visibly cleaner, I took the ‘after’ photographs the next morning, so even if the cleaning solution contained an optical brightener the true benefits could be seen. Comparing my before and after photos, in the same light shows a dramatic change in colour, brightness and texture.Overall, I found the Vax Rapide Ultra 2 to be fit for its purpose, efficient for removal of tough, long term stains and child’s play to perfect. I would thoroughly recommend this pleasing Carpet Cleaning device to anyone who wants or needs an affordable fix to care for their Carpets. It does what it says on the box.

Easy to use, does what it says
Looked around for a decent carpet cleaner and there are a few out there but not all the same.I also looked at customer reviews on the main electrical sites and most of them said this Vax was good.Comet had this at £179 pounds but they will price match and as John Lewis had it for £140 they did indeed match the price. This Vax was around the £200 mark when it first came out and at £140 I thought it was a good price for a carpet cleaner.Set up is easy, actually there are very few written instructions just a few pictures but the machine goes together very easy. One point I will make is that it couldbe better in explaing how to use the machine to its best. The booklet says go forward and deploy the cleaning solution then pulling back release so the unit will suck up the fluid. I found that you had to leave the cleaning solution down for about 15-20 minutes to get a really good clean. There is a little wand type dispenser that lets you tackle "stubborn" stains which is quite good and also a small nozzle for doing stairs, car upholstery and furniture. The cord is about eight metres so you can access a big room or stairs with it. The motor is very quiet and the unit is not that bulky to move, yes Which said it was hard to move around but remember it has a large water tank and a decent powered motor. To make it light I think Vax would have to compromise either the motor or the size of the tank. The results are good, I was really impressed by the unit and going over the carpet slowly a few times I found the carpet dried in about an hour. One thing I do not like is the onboard water container does not have any measurements on it and as its @40ml of cleaning fliud to 1 litre of water it is a time consuming job doing it all by a jug to get it right. Vax could have put litre increments onto the container and made it easier.Pros: it does clean well and does dry faster and it is very easy to use with a decent sized Reservoir onboard so you dont have to keep refilling it.Cons: Reservoir does not have level increments so its a tedious job working it out with a measuring jug.
