When we test tumble dryers, we load them with the kind of clothes and other items that we all need to dry; jeans, pillow cases, sheets, socks, T-shirts and towels. We dry them to two different dryness settings: cupboard-dry, which means you can put the clothes away after drying, and iron-dry, which means clothes will be dry enough to iron. We test full and half-loads of cotton items like this, and we also test dryers with an easy-care load of polyester shirts.

If a tumble dryer takes too long to dry clothes, and in doing so uses too much energy, we make it a Don’t Buy. When you choose a Which? Best Buy tumble dryer, you can be sure of getting a superior product.
