We bought this to replace my 1956 Hoover upright, which my wife finds heavy and noisy (this shows how long a good vacuum cleaner should last). The AEG UltraOne has various models - ours is I think an AEL90 - is well made, very quiet, very powerful, and ours has useful gadgets including the Turbo head for hard floors. However, the regular head is so effective we rarely use the Turbo. The lid sometimes seems a little flimsy when lifting it to get at the 3 in 1 tool or the bag, but otherwise it is a pleasure to own and almost makes vacuum cleaning fun!

We bought this machine in place of an excellent Miele (which we gave to our daughter) because my wife wanted the very useful multi-purpose dusting/crevice/upholstery tool. I usually do the vacuum cleaning and I have found it to be very efficient and quiet in operation, although ours does suffer, from time to time, from an annoying squeal, caused by air leaking from the joint between the hose and the machine. Had I not had the experience of owning the Miele, with which I very much regret parting, I would have given it a higher rating.
