Mr Dyson must live somewhere near the Thames where his water supply comes from a recycling system, so their cold tap is cold only by comparison with their hot tap. I'd like to see him rinsing the ball filter ten times under the cold tap, summer and winter months, anywhere north of Birmingham.Many customers, as soon as they have bought it, say how much more it picks up than their previous cleaners. What they are seeing is fibres scratched out from the pile where the previous machine had left them matted in as part of the thickness of the carpet. And it keeps on scratching every time because the default setting is beater-on - it's quite a fight to persuade it to respond to the beater-off button - so it's cutting away a few more fibres every time.For bigger rooms I use a Panasonic bagless which has "beater on" as the second switch setting. The Panasonic's suction is powerful enough for regular work and I can switch the beater on topically where I see a need. And Panasonic does not dictate that I should get frostbite.

' Ball' filter difficult to remove to clean , and replace.Cable a bit short compared with previous Dysons. and need to change to different socket more frequently.Some times difficult to move handle to 'working' position.

After some years of lugging a heavy cylinder vac around this has made hoovering a pleasure (well, almost). It's lightweight, very manoeuvrable, picks up well (including long haired cat fur) and is easy to empty, which needs doing more often than a larger machine. The hose could be longer, and it's a bit sensitive when long strands get caught around the brush, but even that is relatively easy to sort. A godsend for anyone who trembles at the prospect of carting a hoover upstairs, knocking paint off the skirting boards whilst their arm slowly deadens.

I bought this machine because I wanted a bagless vacuum and as my wife has a back problem we wanted one which wasn't too heavy. I have been impressed by how much dust the machine picks up, but it is tricky to empty the dust collecter and to clean the filter in the ball. Taking the ball apart to get at the filter is very trickly but we do it every month (as recommended by the manual) to ensure the vacuum continues to clean well, which it does.

Yes it's small, Yes it's light, but does it work? Yes it certainly does. This is a very good performer and over time has proved to be very good value for money. Also, of course it is very light - much easier to get up those stairs and the ball is magic - so much easier to get around. If there is a downside, but minor, the power cable is on the short side, and maybe the extension hose is also a bit short (extension available). After nearly 2 years of hard working - this is the best Vacuum Cleaner (including previous Dyson)we have ever had!

I bought this beacause it is light weight and also has, as an extra, a car accessories kit. I have had no trouble with this machine and it does the job really well and is light enough to car to the car to use it on the car.
