Every year we survey thousands of Which? members about any problems they've had with their home appliances to find out which brands are the most reliable. Here we reveal the most reliable washer-dryer brands that should give you unrivalled service.
Hundreds of Which? members have told us about the reliability record of their washer-dryers. The reliability scores we calculate from this survey is especially important for washer-dryers as they generally have the lowest reliability score of all of the large kitchen appliances we review. The highest-scoring brand of washer-dryer has achieved a good score of 87%, but washer-dryers at the other end of the reliability table only score a poor 55% for reliability.

The table below shows all of the reliability scores, including brands such as AEG, Hotpoint, Zanussi, Bosch, Indesit and Miele. Our survey also reveals that AEG is the brand of washer-dryer a Which? member is likely to own, with 21% of the respondents in the survey owning an AEG model. Hotpoint was the second most owned washer-dryer brand, with 15%.

Common washer-dryer problems
More than 800 people responded to our washer-dryer survey and problems reported included a mix of minor niggles and serious faults, like blockages, water leakages, programme failure, bad smells and broken filters. The most common washer dryer problems overall are listed below.

Reliability and Best Buys
A washer-dryer can only qualify as a Best Buy if the brand has scored at least three out of five stars for reliability, as based on our survey of owners. Alternatively, a model can also be awarded Best Buy status if it has a free five-year warranty as standard.
